An investigation into the price of sugar in Punjab and smuggling to Afghanistan has begun.
According to the sources, 4 lakh tons of sugar have been smuggled to Afghanistan so far, the mills have benefited to the tune of 115 billion rupees due to the price of sugar rising by 25 rupees per kg.
The investigation under the Kane Commissioner will also trace the mill owners and dealers involved in the smuggling, the routes through which the sugar was transported across the border.
According to the sources of the Cane Commissioner, the federal government made a wrong decision by allowing the export of sugar, in this regard, data has been requested from all the sugar mills.
Sources say that sugar with 130 is being sold in Afghanistan for 200 rupees per kg.
In the last few days, the price of sugar has increased by 25 to 30 rupees in different cities, 1 kg of sugar has reached 130 rupees.
