Regarding the alleged sexual harassment case, President Arif Alvi instructed the Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment and said that the Federal Ombudsman should give the parties an opportunity to be heard in the alleged harassment case at Air University Islamabad.
President Arif Alvi said that the federal ombudsman should take a fresh decision after listening to both sides, the complaint of the female complainant was negligently rejected, the allegations made against the accused by the complainant are of a serious nature.
He said that proper investigation and evidence is needed to arrive at a correct conclusion, adding that the ombudsman made a conclusion based on the contents of the complaint instead of following the procedure.
President Arif Alvi says that the complainant was not given any opportunity to present evidence or cross-examine the representative.
The President says that the Ombudsman himself said that the allegations leveled by the complainant are of a serious nature, given the seriousness of the allegations, the parties should be given an opportunity to be heard and present relevant evidence.
It should be noted that the employee of the university had lodged a complaint with the anti-harassment ombudsman, the woman had lodged a complaint against a senior official of the university.
The Ombudsman dismissed the woman’s complaint for failure to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.
The female complainant had petitioned the President against the order of the Anti-Harassment Ombudsman.
