CCPO Peshawar Mohammad Ijaz Khan says that the explosion seems to be a suicide attack, the head of the alleged suicide bomber has also been found at the scene.
Talking to Geo News, CCPO Peshawar Mohammad Ijaz Khan said that the nature of the explosion will be known only after the rescue operation.
He said the assailant might already be in the police lines.
According to CCPO, there are offices of more than 8 units including FRP, SSU, CTD in police lines.
He said that 1,500 to 2,000 personnel come and go to the police lines every day, it is also possible that the attacker came in an official vehicle.
Ejaz Khan said that the hall of the mosque was old with beams in it, the rest of the mosque was newly built, the explosion caused waves in the hall, and the fire also caused damage.
CCPO says that more damage was caused due to the collapse of the mosque wall, CTD is investigating the case.
