Petitions against imposition of tax on immovable properties accepted

Lahore: The petitions against the imposition of tax on movable properties by the federal legislation were approved by the court.

The Lahore High Court has issued a written decision related to movable properties, according to which the court has ruled that declaring the market value of movable properties as income is contrary to the power of legislation.

The court also declared the exception in Section 7E to D Clause One to the heirs of martyrs, war wounded as unconstitutional. Apart from this, the original allocation of assets to the federal and provincial government, current and former employees of the armed forces has been declared unconstitutional.

A single bench of the Lahore High Court issued a 50-page written judgment on 1057 petitions, in which arguments were presented on behalf of the petitioners by advocate Mohsin Wark and others.
