Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf approached the Supreme Court for not giving the date of elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Election Commission and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been made parties in the petition filed by PTI. The petition states that Governor KP is not following the March 1 court order. Governor KP announced the date of May 28 on the media, later retracted.

It has been argued in the petition that according to the constitution elections are required within 90 days. Governor KP is violating the court order. In the petition on behalf of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, it has been requested that the Supreme Court should order Governor KP to give the date of the elections and direct him to give the date closest to the 90-day period.
PTI’s petition has requested that the Election Commission be directed to issue the election schedule immediately as soon as the date is received. All federal and provincial institutions should be ordered to assist the Election Commission for elections.
