International police have shut down a notorious cybercrime website, one of the world’s largest online criminal markets.
The operation against the website was dubbed “Operation Cookie Monster”.
According to British media, the website was used by online fraudsters to buy passwords.
The website sold login details, IP addresses and data that created digital fingerprints of victims.
The European Union’s policing agency said a global operation targeting the Genesis market resulted in 119 arrests.
Proceedings against criminals took place in more than 10 European countries, including Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and the United States.
Law enforcement agencies from 17 countries, including the UK, took part in the operation, led by the FBI and the Dutch police.
