The European Union has expressed deep concern over the torture and arrests by the Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Speaking at a news briefing in Brussels, European Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Peter Stano said, “It is very important to maintain the historical status of the holy places.”
“We call on all parties to exercise utmost restraint and refrain from taking any steps that would add to the already existing tensions during these important religious days,” he said.
Spokesman Peter Stano said the March 19 meetings in Aqaba and Sharm al-Sheikh had provided constructive commitments that should be implemented in good faith.
The EU is fully committed to supporting these de-escalation efforts.
It should be noted that the occupying Israeli authorities attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque and severely tortured the Palestinians worshiping there and arrested at least 400 people.
