A Hindutva mob set fire to a 110-year-old madrasa and library during a Ram Navami rally in the Indian state of Bihar.
According to foreign media reports, during a Ram Navami rally on March 31, a Hindutva mob set fire to the 110-year-old Madrasa Aziziya, the oldest madrasa and library in Bihar Sharif in Nalanda district of Bihar.
According to media reports, the imam of the mosque, Mohammad Shahabuddin, told the media that there were more than 4,500 books in the madrassa, which were burnt to ashes in the fire and none were left.
According to media reports, Madrasa Aziziya was established by Bibi Saghra in memory of her husband Abdul Aziz who was known as one of the most honorable and philanthropic men in the history of Bihar.
According to foreign media, more than 1,000 armed Hindus ransacked the 110-year-old library, and the Hindu mob also threw petrol bombs at the mosque and the library.
Mohan Bahadur, a security guard of the madrassa, said that the armed men were shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans, the mob also attacked me but I managed to escape with my life.
Mohan Bahadur further said that on March 31, the attack took place in the afternoon but the police did not reach the spot till 11 pm.
