The Supreme Court has issued a written order for the March 17 hearing of the Arshad Sharif suo motu case.
The Supreme Court said in the order that if the court is not satisfied with the Arshad Sharif case investigation, a judicial commission will be formed.
According to Shaukat Siddiqui, the Supreme Court cannot supervise the investigation of the JIT, the Supreme Court can supervise and investigate the cases related to fundamental rights.
The order said that the Additional Attorney General informed Kenya and the UAE of mutual legal assistance. According to the Additional Attorney General, the Kenyan authorities have not yet responded to the mutual legal assistance.
The Supreme Court said that the special JIT is given 3 more weeks to investigate from foreign countries, the court can form a judicial commission for the investigation as it is a matter of important fundamental rights.
The order said that the murder of Arshad Sharif is a matter of fundamental rights apart from the murder of a major journalist. More than 5,000 letters were written to the Supreme Court to investigate his murder. Further hearing of the case will be held in the month of April.
