Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has praised the role of the textile sector in the country’s economic growth and exports and said that the government is determined to solve the problems faced by the sector.
According to the Ministry of Finance, he expressed these views on Tuesday while talking to a delegation headed by Pattern Chief of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTAMA) Dr. Gohar Ejaz.
While welcoming the delegation, the Finance Minister highlighted the economic and financial situation of the country and expressed the determination of the government to overcome these challenges and lead the economy towards development. The delegation apprised the finance minister about the role of the textile sector in the country’s revenue, employment generation and exports despite the challenges faced by it.
The delegation also apprised the finance minister about the problems faced by the textile industry regarding gas and electricity supply, their prices and imports and exports. shortages, stranded imports of raw materials due to LC opening issues and regionally competitive energy tariffs.
Acknowledging Aptma’s contribution to the country’s economic growth, the Finance Minister reiterated his commitment to provide maximum government support to the textile industry to increase domestic exports.
The Finance Minister directed the concerned authorities to resolve the Aptma issues on priority basis. The delegation thanked the Finance Minister for providing support and taking steps to resolve the issues.
Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Revenue Tariq Pasha, Governor State Bank, Chairman FBR, Secretary Power, Additional Secretary Commerce and senior officers of the relevant ministries were also present on this occasion.
