After the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

In the meeting, various options were considered in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision.
This was the second meeting of the federal cabinet in 24 hours.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court invalidated the Election Commission’s notification of postponing the Punjab Assembly elections till October 8 and ordered polling to be held in Punjab on May 14.
Delivering a reserved judgment on the petition against postponing the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Supreme Court said that the Election Commission’s March 22 decision is declared unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court said that the decision of the date given by the President is restored, the Constitution and the law do not give the authority to postpone the date of elections, the Election Commission gave the decision then the election process was at the fifth stage.
The court while pronouncing the decision said that 13 days were wasted due to the order of the Election Commission, the Election Commission made an unconstitutional decision, elections should be held on May 14 in Punjab.
