Letter of 2 senior judges to the Chief Justice to investigate the allegations against Justice Mazahar

Islamabad: The two senior judges of the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa and Justice Tariq Masood, wrote a judicial letter to the head and members of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The letter was written to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh and Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Amir Muhammad Bhatti. The text of the letter states that complaints were received against Justice Mazahir Naqvi by the Pakistan Bar Council and other petitioners, alleging misconduct and financial corruption.

It has been said in the letter that Chief Justice Sir, we are waiting, when will you call the meeting of the Judicial Council? A meeting should be called to determine whether the allegations against Justice Mazahir Naqvi are true or false, if the allegations are false, then the honor of the judge should be restored, if the allegations are true, action should be taken according to the constitution.

According to the text of the letter, keeping the judge under the shadow of the accusations is affecting the honor of the judge and the judiciary. In order to restore the independence of the judiciary and the public’s trust in it, it is necessary to convene a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council immediately.

It should be noted that the bar councils of the country had announced to file a complaint in the Supreme Judicial Council against Supreme Court Judge Mazahir Naqvi on the audio leak of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi.
