Edinburgh: According to a new study, there is a link between high blood pressure and dementia. If people with this condition have diabetes, the risk may increase.
Dr. Joanna Wardlaw from the University of Edinburgh and her colleagues have conducted a study in this regard. According to him, certain parts of the brain are abnormally affected by blood pressure. It increases the risk of neurodegeneration and can even lead to dementia and Alzheimer’s.
In this regard, experts have taken brain scans and other data of 30 thousand people from the British Biobank. In addition, the genetic factors of Alzheimer’s and dementia were considered. Experts noticed that people who were suffering from high blood pressure had abnormal changes in their cerebral cortex.
Millions of people around the world, including Pakistan, are suffering from high blood pressure and only by controlling this disease can mental diseases, which become a lifelong disease, be prevented.
