Bhubaneswar: In the Indian state of Odisha, the provincial health minister died after being shot by a policeman.
According to Indian media, Odisha State Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot by ASI near Gandhi Chowk when he arrived to attend an event.
The provincial health minister was immediately shifted to the hospital in an injured condition, but he could not survive. On the other hand, the police have claimed that the absconding accused has been arrested.
According to the police, the accused officer shot two bullets directly in the chest for unknown reasons and fled. Eyewitnesses say that as soon as the Minister of Health got out of his car, the policeman on security duty fired two bullets one after another into his chest from the official pistol.
The health minister was shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was airlifted to Bhubaneswar, where he underwent a complex operation under the supervision of a specialist doctor.
The police spokesperson says that the assistant sub-inspector who fired at the health minister has been identified as Gopal Das. The motive of the incident has not yet been determined and the investigation is ongoing.
