The Embassy of Pakistan, Netherlands organized an event themed “Explore Pakistan” at Pakistan House in The Hague with the aim of showcasing Pakistan’s multifaceted tourism potential to the Dutch tourism industry.
The event was attended by representatives of leading tourism companies, media and airlines, travel experts from PUM and VvKR.
Mr. Jimmy Nielsen, the world-renowned visual storyteller, and the famous Dutch mountaineer, Mr. Wilco van Rooyen, share their experiences of traveling to Pakistan.
Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director (MD) Aftar Rehman Rana gave a detailed presentation on various types of tourism and investment opportunities in the sector.
Ambassador of Pakistan Saljuq Mustansar Tarar welcomed the participants and discussed why Pakistan should be the choice for tourists from Holland.
Ambassador Tarar mentioned how those interested in history and civilization can visit the Indus Valley Civilization, Buddhism or the places where Alexander the Great fought his famous battle, while those interested in geography and the landscape of the land can visit them. Tourists can visit the deserts or plains and go trekking or mountaineers can visit the northern regions of Pakistan which have some of the highest mountains and plains and the most snow outside the polar regions. People interested in cultural or religious sites can visit Sikh holy places or Sufi shrines across Pakistan.
He also mentioned Pakistan as a business destination for investment in the hospitality industry.
On this occasion, various thematic videos on the geography and cultural heritage of Pakistan were also shown to the attendees.
Mr. Jimmy Nelson is a world-renowned visual storyteller, Mr. Nelson chronicles his travels through local cultures and lives through the lens of his camera.
He has compiled three books of photography and stories, including ‘Before They Pass Away’ and Homage to Humanity, each a masterpiece in his own right, presenting his work as photographic and immersive exhibitions in different parts of the world. is also shown.
Mr. Jimmy Nelson in a Ted Talk style presentation to the audience described Pakistan as one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Pakistan was one of his first destinations as a young adventurer and photographer and he recently visited the country, Mr Nelson is currently planning his next project.
Mr. Wilco van Rooyen is a Dutch mountaineer who has completed the Explorers Grand Slam by climbing the 7 highest peaks on all continents and poles. Wrote ‘Surviving K2’, published in both English and Dutch.
Mr. Wilco van Rooyen was traveling but sent an enthusiastic video message encouraging Dutch tourists to visit Pakistan. Mr. Wilco praised Pakistan, its people and culture.
He called it a ‘life-changing event’ and urged the audience to travel to Pakistan if they wanted to experience something different.
Mr. Aftar Rehman Rana MDPTDC said that Pakistan has a unique geographical location with natural diversity ranging from the sea coast to the highest mountains in the world, the great mountain ranges like Hindu Kush, Himalayas and Karakoram. There are meeting places that meet in the north of Pakistan.
He also covered emerging adventure tourism in Pakistan, for paragliding or as part of the traditional Silk Route.
