Karachi: Renowned anchor and host Rabia Anam says that people who are committed to fasting and salat are also prone to depression.
Recently, in a private TV program, actress Resham said that a person who is close to Allah cannot suffer from depression, depression is only a result of distance from Allah.
This statement of Resham sparked a debate on social media and users including showbiz personalities also criticized Resham and said that depression is a regular disease and should not be associated with the worship of Allah.
Rabia Anam, the host of Express Entertainment’s Ramadan program ‘Pyara Ramadan’, also commented on this issue during the program and appealed without mentioning Resham’s name, that depression should not be called a distance from Allah, because those who suffer from it are also victims. I am bound by fasting and salat.

Rabia Anam said that she has also discussed this topic with psychologists who said that depression is a mental problem that needs to be treated.
Rabia also said that a close relative of hers was also a devotee and obliged to pray, but he suffered from a mental illness like depression and forgot to perform ablution.
Host Rabia Anam said that it is a disease and there is a dire need to take mental problems and diseases seriously in our society.
It should be remembered that in almost every second house in Pakistan, some person is suffering from mental stress due to economic, social and domestic problems, but this problem is not taken seriously nor is it treated. It is also considered bad to say a victim or a mental patient.
