Gilgit-Baltistan Police cannot be deployed outside its limits for VIP security. The Islamabad High Court accepted the position of the federal government as correct.
In the court, a case was heard against the prohibition of the provincial police officers assigned to the security of Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan to go to other provinces.
On behalf of the federal government, Additional Attorney General Barrister Manoor Dogal presented the rules related to VIP security in the court.
Rules related to VIP security were approved by the Cabinet during the PTI regime.
The PTI government approved the rules on 10 September 2021.
According to the text of the rules, the security of VIPs is the responsibility of the respective provincial governments.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the request of Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Home Ministry’s notification was challenged by the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Gilgit-Baltistan Government.
