Australia: The whole world is being gripped by memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s. However, under preventive medicine, the general population can avoid this risk by increasing magnesium in their diet. In this regard, especially women can benefit more.

Eating magnesium keeps the brain healthy on the one hand, but on the other hand, the condition of neurodegenerative diseases can be put on hold. In this regard, experts from the Australian National University have conducted a long survey in which the brain volume and the abundance of white matter (white matter) of magnesium eaters have been noted.

Another important thing is that increasing magnesium also helps in controlling blood pressure itself, but experts need to know the scientific reasons for both.

Scientists have taken the data of 6000 people from 40 to 73 years from the British Biobank. Initially, not a single patient was suffering from mental illness. All participants were given a questionnaire 5 times over a 16-month period and presented with a list of 200 foods high in magnesium.

It was found that people who consumed 550 mg of magnesium instead of the normal 350 mg per day had a year shorter brain age and appeared more energetic and youthful. It has also been found that consuming magnesium improves different parts of the brain, including the gray matter and the hippocampus.

Experts also took X-rays and MRIs of the participants and concluded that regular intake of excess magnesium could reduce the risk of brain shrinkage with age by 41 percent. However, these effects are more pronounced in women.

This research was done by Khola Al Atiq and his colleagues from the Australian National University.
