Washington: Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, Starlink and other companies and one of the richest people in the world, is currently facing an investigation by US agencies related to the claims of his Tesla vehicles being automated.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched an investigation into Tesla’s claims that the company overstated its autonomous vehicle capabilities. Now the agency is trying to figure out at what point Tesla made big promises for a self-driving car and misled the general public.
Another important thing about Tesla’s self-driving car has come to light. Last week, a company engineer admitted that the Autopilot software was first built in 2016, and that a practical demonstration was actually done as an afterthought. This video was directed by Elon Musk himself.
Although the SEC does not investigate companies’ security claims, it does work to protect the public from misleading corporate claims. The problem is that the claimed fully automatic Tesla car is still not 100 percent possible.
According to analysts, Elon Musk may face further lawsuits or lawsuits in light of the facts.
