London: The BBC World Service has announced that it is shutting down its Farsi radio station. The service was launched 82 years ago and was quite popular in Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan.
According to Afghan media, the British broadcasting organization “BBC” has announced that the last broadcast of its Persian radio will be broadcast today on March 26, 2023, after which the 82-year journey of Persian video will come to an end.
Farsi Radio broadcast from London was well loved by Farsi speakers and has millions of listeners around the world, especially in Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan.
The BBC World Service said it made the decision as part of “strategic changes” to focus on publishing content on digital platforms.
It should be noted that on January 28, the BBC also stopped broadcasting Arabic radio. BBC Arabic Radio’s journey spanned 85 years, but the BBC will continue to provide an Arabic service through the website.
