Sindh Local Government Elections, re-polling continues in 15 districts

Polling in 15 districts of Sindh, which was stopped due to various reasons, continues today.

The voting process which started at 8 am will continue till 5 pm without any break.

Polling is taking place at 90 polling stations in connection with local body elections in 15 districts of Sindh.

Districts Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Badin categories of various councils Chairman, Vice Re-polling is going on for the seats of Chairman, Member District Council, General Members.

Voting delayed in Khairpur polling station

Re-elections are being held today in two town committees and one union council ward in Khairpur.

Polling is going on in Ward No. 4 of Union Council Kandiyari while voting was delayed in Polling Station 7 of Town Committee Kot Diji Ward 5.

According to RO Darya Khan Chandio, the polling has started at 8:30 on the order of the Election Commission.

In Khairpur, there were incidents of uproar and lifting of ballot boxes during local elections in three wards.

Voting at 2 polling stations in Hyderabad

Re-polling is being held today at 2 polling stations of 2 USCs of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Voting is going on for the election of Chairman of UC 35 and 28, Ward 3 of UC 35 and Ward 1 of UC 28 for General Members of Hyderabad.

Union Committee 28 on 7, Union Committee 35 on 10 panels are contesting for chairman and vice chairman, where the contest is going on among the candidates of People’s Party, PTI, MQM, and Tehreek-e-Labaik.

In Hyderabad, the results were withheld on January 15 following a scuffle at both polling stations.

Elections to 2 Union Councils of Sanghar

In Sanghar too, elections are being held on 2 union councils postponed due to disputes in local body elections.

Polling is being held in Union Council 63 Asgharabad and Union Council 64 Somer Faqir Hanguru of Tehsil Shahdadpur of Sanghar.

14 male and 13 female polling booths have been set up at 7 polling stations for voting, 9831 voters are exercising their right to vote in both union councils.

According to the Election Commission, both the Union Councils have been declared highly sensitive, Rangers personnel have also been deployed along with the police to make the polling process peaceful, 29 candidates including People’s Party, GDA are in the fray here.

In the first phase in Sanghar, the election was postponed due to a dispute between the supporters of the People’s Party and the GDA.

Polling continues in UC 25 Panhwar of Sukkur

In Sukkur, UC 25 Panhwar polling is going on again today for local body elections.

Elections in UC 25 Panhwar in Sukkur were postponed due to tension between political parties.

Re-election in one ward of Larkana

Polling is taking place in Ward No. 2 of Union Committee Dockery in Larkana.

In Ward No. 2, the election was postponed due to the publication of wrong candidate marks on the ballot paper.

Nawabshah: MQM candidate withdraws from UC 6

Elections are being held today in 4 constituencies including Municipal Committee, Union Committee and Union Council in Nawabshah.

The Regional Election Commissioner has said that the voting for the election of Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Counsel is going on.

Yakub Arain, the candidate for the chairmanship of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from Union Committee 6 in Nawabshah, has withdrawn.

MQM candidate Muhammad Yaqub has said that he is withdrawing from the elections due to bad health.

According to the Regional Election Commissioner, 32 polling stations have been set up for the municipal elections, in which 44,449 registered voters will cast their votes.

Elections were postponed in Nawabshah due to non-printing of election symbols on the ballot papers, disputes and the death of a candidate.

Voting is going on for 3 union councils of Kundakot and Jacobabad.

In Kandhkot, the staff of 3 polling stations of UC 28 Dadar were abducted due to which the election was postponed.

In Jacobabad, Union Council 23 Kot Jango and UC 29 Karimabad are holding election today, a total number of 4386 voters are exercising their right to vote in both Union Councils.

Polling is also going on today in Union Council 49 Chakar Panhor of Badin.

Polling in UC 49 was postponed due to a dispute.
