Commissioner rate list ineffective in Karachi, selling fruits at arbitrary prices

Karachi: The official rate list issued by the commissioner became ineffective, the campaign of boycott of fruits by the citizens was not effective, the army of magistrates of the Sindh government was also unable to give relief to the citizens from profiteering. Fruits are being sold at arbitrary prices across the city.

According to Express News, the official price list is not displayed on any fruit stalls across the city, some time before Iftar, exhibition activities are being done in the markets, which are of no benefit to the citizens. In the city, bananas are being sold at Rs 300 to Rs 400 per dozen, second grade bananas are being sold at Rs 200 to Rs 250 per dozen.

Consumers have demanded from the Sindh government and the Commissioner Karachi that permanent staff and magistrates should be appointed by setting up complaints camps of the district administration in the markets of the city. The price of fruits in Karachi is skyrocketing. First grade melon is selling at Rs.150 to Rs.180 per kg, second grade melon is being sold at Rs.120 per kg, watermelon is being sold at Rs.100 to Rs.150 per kg.

Chico and guava are being sold at Rs 200 per kg, papaya at Rs 200 to Rs 250 per kg, Iranian apples at Rs 300 per kg, apples at Rs 200 per kg, golden apples at Rs 250 to Rs 300 per kg, dates are also being sold at Rs 200 per kg more than the official rate and 550 to 600 rupees per kg is being sold.
