IMF Spokesperson Esther Perez has said that only Pakistani institutions have the authority to make decisions regarding the constitutionality, feasibility and timing of provincial assemblies and general elections.
Esther Perez said that there is no requirement under the IMF program that can interfere with the constitutional activities of Pakistan.
He said that under IMF-supported programs, targets have been set at the government level, there is financial room to allocate or re-prioritize expenditures or raise additional revenues.
The IMF spokesperson added that the objective of fiscal capacity is to ensure that constitutional activities can be carried out as needed.
