The Supreme Court Bar Association strongly condemned the postponement of the elections in Punjab till October and demanded the protection of the constitution from all the constitutional institutions.
In the declaration, the Supreme Court Bar says that the Election Commission canceled the constitution by postponing the elections till October.
The Supreme Court Bar has said that the Election Commission cannot change the date of elections in any case, it was clear in the decision of the Supreme Court that the elections must be held within 90 days.
In the declaration, the Supreme Court Bar says that the Election Commission violated its constitutional mandate and the order of the Supreme Court and misinterpreted the Constitution and the decision of the Supreme Court. According to the Constitution, even the caretaker government cannot remain in place for more than 90 days.
The Supreme Court Bar Association has expressed its concern and said that the election commission’s open violation of the constitution will spread chaos in the country, all the constitutional institutions should take comprehensive measures to prevent the abrogation of the constitution.
