Karachi: The Health Promotion Foundation has started a project to build 3,000 clinics across the country to treat 3.3 million people with diabetes.
The first clinic was established in Nazimabad, the inauguration ceremony of the project was held in which the chief guest was Sulaiman Chawla, Senior Vice President of the Federation of All Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Health Promotion Foundation Chairman Imtiaz Zuberi, Vice Chairman and Diabetic Specialist Professor Abdul Basit, General Secretary Dr. Zafar Iqbal Abbasi, Professor Muhammad Yaqub Ahmadani, Mukhtar Ahmed and Professor Ashar Fawad were also present.
Sulaiman Chawla said that the efforts Dr. Abdul Basit and his team are making to prevent diabetes are commendable.
Dr. Abdul Basit said that it is the result of 26 years of hard work that they are starting a project to establish three thousand clinics to control diabetes, before that we started foot clinics and one of the 150 foot clinics in Pakistan. Established a network that has resulted in a significant reduction in foot and leg amputations.
He said that he has been making shoes for diabetic patients so that the feet of diabetic patients do not get injured and they can be saved from disability.
