According to foreign media, the government of Dubai has banned its residents from distributing iftar without permission during Ramadan. Anyone who wants to distribute Iftar must obtain permission from the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Welfare Department.
The government of Dubai has banned the distribution of iftar as a precautionary measure due to the Corona epidemic. Those who distribute Iftar without permission can face severe punishment which can be a fine of 10,000 dirhams and imprisonment for one year.
The reasons for this ban have been explained by the authorities to ensure that the iftar or food distributed is prepared according to hygienic standards and that different Food can be distributed at places.
Director of Charitable Institutions while talking to Emirati media said that citizens should file an application to distribute Iftar. They have to specify in which area they will distribute Iftar to make the process more organized.
He said that we do not want all the citizens to distribute Iftar at the same place. If we have information, we will guide them so that Iftar is distributed in all areas.
Those who distribute iftar without permission can be fined 5 to 10 thousand dirhams or imprisoned for 30 days to one year.
