According to the World News Agency, on the one hand, the United Nations estimates that almost 90 percent of Afghans are facing a lack of balanced food, on the other hand, the World Food Program of the United Nations was forced to reduce the ration for four million Afghans this month.
Commodity shortages are especially acute at the end of Afghanistan’s harsh and deadly winter, when many families close their food stores before the next harvest around May.
“Due to funding constraints, at least 4 million people will be able to receive only half of the amount by March,” the agency said in a statement.
It should be noted that the United Nations Food Agency appealed that in April, $93 million in funding is urgently needed to deliver food to 13 million people in Afghanistan.
Since the Taliban assumed power in 2021, international organizations have frozen funds, which has plunged Afghanistan into an economic crisis.
On the other hand, the United Nations has expressed fear that the funding countries will withdraw due to the ban on women’s education and employment by the Taliban administration.
