9 police personnel injured in judicial complex riot, former member of assembly arrested

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan In the clash between PTI workers and the police on the arrival of the judicial complex, SSP operations, two SHOs and several police personnel were injured while the police arrested the former member of the National Assembly.

According to the details released by the Islamabad Police spokesperson, 9 police personnel were injured due to stone pelting by the PTI protesters who were taken to the hospital for immediate medical assistance. The mobile phone was also burnt.

Apart from this, according to the police officials, the bomb disposal squad vehicle of the police could not escape from the protestors, which was burnt after being vandalized. According to police officials, the protesters allegedly attacked the police with petrol bombs.

The police resorted to heavy lathicharge and tear gas to disperse the protesters and keep them away from the complex, in response to which the protesters also attacked the policemen with batons.

It was surprising that the PTI protesters attacked the policemen serially, they attacked the policemen from different sides and rained sticks on the policemen.

According to the police spokesperson, SSP Operations Malik Jameel Zafar was injured while SHO Koral Shafqat Faiz had three fingers broken and three officials were injured in stone pelting by PTI workers.

On the other hand, the police arrested former member of National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Amjad Niazi from Ramna police station on charges of rioting.
