7.1 magnitude earthquake hits New Zealand, tsunami warning issued

Wellington: A tsunami warning has been issued in New Zealand after a strong earthquake.

According to New Zealand media, the magnitude of the earthquake that occurred on Thursday morning in Karma Dak Islands was recorded at 7.1 on the Richter scale, while the epicenter was 10 km deep.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for coasts within 300 kilometers of the epicenter in the South Pacific.

So far no loss of life or property has been reported from the earthquake.
