Kuwait City: Kuwait has chosen 49-year-old female journalist Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah as its ambassador to the United States.

According to Arab media, the Crown Prince has appointed Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah to replace Kuwait’s ambassador to the United States, Jassim Al-Dawi. The new female ambassador has been a journalist by profession and is interested in filmmaking.

Sheikha Al-Sabah also made a film called America in 2009, which won 9 awards, including the Fpressi Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Film at the Cairo International Film Festival, while receiving 19 nominations.

In addition, Sheikha Al Zain Al Sabah founded the National Creative Industries Group, which worked with Netflix to launch the first incubator for writers in the Mina region.

In addition to journalism and filmmaking, Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah has also served as secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs from 2013 to 2018 and allocated funds for youth filmmaking.

In 2019, Sheikha Al Zain Sabah was also offered the post of a woman minister, but she declined.

Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah was also awarded the Al-Haytham Arab Media Award in 2017, while the Gulf Cooperation Council, an organization of Gulf Arab states, also received the Medal of Excellence in 2022 for her services in the field of youth.

Born in 1974, Sheikha Al Zain al-Sabah received her master’s degree in filmmaking from the University of Southern California in 2003, and a bachelor’s degree from Boston University’s College of Communication in 1996.
