After accepting all the conditions, Pakistan is facing one more condition from the IMF. The International Monetary Fund has asked Pakistan to bring letters from the countries that have promised financing by June.
Sources say that the IMF has demanded that the financing countries provide written assurances by June 30.
The IMF says that this writing should be provided by the Executive Directors appointed to the IMF in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
Sources say that the Pakistani government has mobilized to get written assurances from the three countries.
Along with the finance ministry, the prime minister’s office also became active, Pakistani officials are hopeful of getting written assurances soon.
Earlier, Pakistan has agreed to the IMF’s last condition of not borrowing directly from commercial banks, however, Pakistan has also agreed to this condition of the IMF.
According to sources, Pakistan and IMF officials have also completed negotiations on the revised MEFP, Pakistan wants the staff-level agreement to be approved at the executive board meeting in spring.
