Lahore: Tehreek-e-Insaf challenged the implementation of Section 144 in the Lahore High Court after the election schedule was released.
The petition was filed by Hamad Azhar of Tehreek-e-Insaf through the mediation of Azhar Siddique, in which the Election Commission and the Punjab government were made parties.
According to the petitioner, Section 144 cannot be enforced after the election schedule is issued, but the caretaker Punjab government enforced Section 144 after the election schedule was issued.
It was requested that the court declare the move of caretaker Punjab government as illegal and issue guidelines regarding Article 144 in future also.
