An additional 10,000 megawatts of hydropower is expected to be added by 2030

Islamabad: WAPDA will add another 10,000 MW of low-cost and environment-friendly hydropower to the national grid by 2030 through phased completion of under-construction hydropower projects.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the current production of hydroelectric power, which is about 9,500 megawatts, will increase to double that is more or less 20,000 megawatts. After the completion of these projects, the total water storage capacity in the country will also be 12 million acres. Fit will increase.

Among the under-construction projects of WAPDA, Dia Mur Bhasha Dam, Dasu Hydropower Project, Mohmand Dam, Tarbela Fifth Expansion Project, Naygaj Dam, Karam Tangi Dam, Kuchi Canal and K4 Project are worth mentioning.

These projects will be completed in phases from 2024 to 2030.
