Moscow: Ukraine has claimed that more than 200 Russian soldiers were killed and 314 wounded in the 24-hour clash in Bakhmut.

According to the international news agency, the battle of Ghamsan is going on in “Bakhmut”, an area of Donbas under the control of Russia in Ukraine. Russia has so far failed to capture this area of Donbass.

The spokesman of the Ukrainian army Serhii Chirivati told the national channel that in the last 24 hours, the Russian army carried out 16 attacks and 23 skirmishes, in which 221 enemy soldiers were killed and 314 were injured.

It should be noted that there has been an increase in clashes in Bakhmut since Friday. Opposing armies are facing each other and fighting for territory. Conflicting claims are coming from both the countries.

Russia, while not commenting on the casualties, has said that a Bakhmut victory would crack Ukraine’s defenses and be a step toward controlling the entire industrialized region of Donbass, a major goal.

Pro-Russian separatist militias succeeded in occupying Donbass and Russia annexed Donbass to its state through a controversial referendum.

It should be remembered that the Russian army attacked Ukraine in February last year and annexed 4 cities including Donbass to its state. In this ongoing war, thousands of people have been killed, millions have been left homeless, many cities and towns have been destroyed.
