Rawalpindi: In Pakistan Super League 8, Multan Sultans defeated Quetta Gladiators by 9 runs and eliminated them from the playoff race. After the defeat of Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi reached the play-off stage.
In the 28th match of the league played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Quetta Gladiators were able to score 253 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets in pursuit of 263 runs.
On behalf of Quetta Gladiators, Umair Yusuf scored 67 runs and Iftikhar Ahmed scored 53 runs. Martin Guptill scored 37, Umar Akmal scored 28 and captain Mohammad Nawaz scored 16 runs.
Qais Ahmed and Naveen-ul-Haq returned to the pavilion not out scoring 17 and 17 runs respectively.
On behalf of Multan Sultans, Abbas Afridi took 5 wickets, while Ehsanullah took 2 wickets and Anwar Ali took 1 wicket.
Earlier, Multan Sultans scored 263 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs while batting first at the invitation of Quetta Gladiators.
On behalf of Multan Sultans, Usman Khan played a smoky innings of 120 runs off 43 balls.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan scored 55 and Riley Rossi scored 15 runs. While Tim David scored 43 and Kieron Pollard remained not out by scoring 23 runs.
