Tunisia: Two migrant boats sank in Tunisia in two consecutive days, in which a total of 14 people died while 54 people were rescued.
According to the World News Agency, two migrant boats sank today and yesterday off the coast of Tunisia. In the first incident, 3 people were killed and 34 were rescued, while in the second incident, 11 people were killed and 20 people were rescued.
A spokesman for the Tunisian Coast Guard said that 14 boats of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa were sent back, saving the lives of 435 people, but two boats sank.
Due to poverty and racist riots in African countries, more than 10,000 people illegally migrate to European countries every year in search of a better and safer future.
Migrants from sub-Saharan Africa also try to reach Europe in unsafe boats from Tunisia. Italy’s island of Lepadusa is 130 km from the coast of Tunisia.
