Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced May 14 as the date for parliamentary and presidential elections.
He said in a televised speech that the voting for the election of the president and members of parliament in the country will be held on May 14.
President Erdoğan said that the elections are being held before the proposed date of June 18 because there will be preparation for university exams, summer vacations and departure for Hajj in those days.
He said that his election campaign will focus on rehabilitation after the terrible earthquake and will not use any kind of music.
The Turkish president said that all the parliamentary candidates of his party, Justice and Development Party, must submit funds for earthquake victims to the Disaster and Emergency Authority.
According to an order published in the official gazette, earthquake victims will be able to exercise their right to vote in their current residential cities.
