Islamabad: The inside story of the meeting of the PTI delegation with the Election Commission has come out in which Tehreek Ansaf has demanded to take ROs from the judiciary.

According to sources, PTI has expressed dissatisfaction over the ROs taken from the bureaucracy, fearing that the bureaucracy will not conduct impartial elections and that the caretaker government will influence the ROs of the Punjab bureaucracy.

According to Election Commission sources, the Election Commission tried to get ROs from the judiciary, but the Lahore High Court refused to provide judicial officers, so the Election Commission has no other option but to get ROs from the bureaucracy.

Further delay in appointment of ROs may lead to postponement of elections.

Earlier, a high-level delegation of Tehreek-e-Insaf reached the Election Commission and met Chief Election Commissioner Sulander Sultan Raja. The PTI delegation included Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary General Asad Umar and Malika Bukhari.

The leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf discussed with the Chief Election Commissioner about the attitude of the caretaker government of Punjab. He also raised the issue of the election campaign and the situation in Lahore yesterday.

The Chief Election Commissioner heard the concerns of the PTI delegation and has assured the PTI of resolving the concerns.

The Election Commission is bound to conduct the elections in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision and the Election Commission will strictly monitor the election campaign.

The Chief Election Commissioner has assured to take up the matter with caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, all political parties should cooperate with the Election Commission regarding the elections. The Election Commission will take steps to provide equal opportunities to all political parties.

PTI demanded to issue instructions to IG Punjab and Chief Secretary Punjab, Chief Election Commissioner assured to resolve the concerns.
