Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that he will strictly implement the austerity campaign, asserting that Pakistan will not default.
Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, the finance minister said that the positions we hold are trustworthy, accountable to Allah and the people. The news of Pakistan’s default is misleading, baseless propaganda is being made about the country’s economy.
He said that I invite all the political parties to do contract economy.
The finance minister said that the austerity campaign will be strictly implemented, all cabinet members have stopped using big jeeps.
Ishaq Dar said that the federal government will reduce its expenditure by 15%, the government delegation will not stay in five-star hotels, government officials and ministers will travel on economy class tickets.
He said that Imran Khan deviated from the IMF program, the coalition government inherited the worst economy, Imran Khan damaged the trust of development institutions, inflation increased due to his policy.
Ishaq Dar said that Imran Khan increased the debts of Pakistan by 24 thousand billion, it is hoped that the agreement with the IMF will be concluded in two days.
He said that due to the bad government of the last few years, the situation worsened, during our time, the revolving debt of Pakistan was less than 2 trillion rupees per year, now the revolving debt is more than 5 trillion.
The finance minister said that the economic difficulties of the country started in 2018, the new budget wants to stabilize the economy in the country and reduce the challenges for the people.
Ishaq Dar said that the previous government did not implement the conditions with the IMF, we came and implemented the conditions set by the previous government.
The federal minister said that our government completed the only IMF program in the country, we will complete this IMF program.
He said that the staff level agreement with the IMF will be done in the next few days, it has been delayed but it is going to happen now.
