Rallies across the country on International Women's Day, demanding the end of injustice and equal rights

On the occasion of International Women’s Day in different cities of the country, women marched for their rights, took out rallies and demanded that existing laws against domestic violence, business, jirga system, sale of women, forced conversion and early marriage exist. Rules should be followed strictly.

A women’s march was held from NADRA office to Flaties Hotel on Egerton Road in Lahore, women raised placards and raised slogans for their rights.

The participants said that everyone should protest against the abuses and injustices done to women.

In Hyderabad, a rally was taken out from Shehbaz Chowk to Press Club on behalf of Women Action Forum. A large number of Hari women belonging to rural areas participated in the Aurat Azadi March.

Leaders of Women Action Committee Amar Sindhu, Irfana Malah and others addressed the rally and said that women in the society should be given rights on the basis of economic, social and equality.

For the first time in the history of Ghotki, a women’s freedom march rally was held. The rally went from Ghotki Circuit House to the Press Club. The rally was led by Dr. Ayesha Dharijo and Alia Bakhshal.

A large number of rural women participated in the Step Foundation rally in Sukkur. A ceremony was also held at the Women Empowerment Center on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Women’s rights march was held by Jamaat-e-Islami in Mirpurkhas. The speakers said that Islam is the guarantor of women’s rights. Islam protects women’s right to inheritance and property.

In Multan, a women’s march rally was taken out from Nawan Shahr Chowk to Press Club. Women, social workers, transgenders and lawyers also participated in the rally. A rally was also held in Zakariya University under the auspices of Islamic Jamiat Talaba.

In Faisalabad, the women’s wing organized by Jamaat-e-Islami took out a rally from Zilla Council Chowk to Kachhari Bazar Chowk. The participants raised slogans against crimes related to women.

In Muzaffargarh, Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Department held a demonstration. The protesters said that women in Pakistan are deprived of equal rights to education, health and employment, all rights should be given.

In Muzaffarabad too, women took out a rally from Azadi Chowk to Ghari Pin Chowk. Women also raised slogans against foreign occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and Indian atrocities.

Rallies in Indonesia, Philippines and Sri Lanka on International Women’s Day

Women held a rally in Indonesia on International Women’s Day, women protestors demanded the government to provide equal rights for women workers, including domestic workers.

Women demonstrated near the presidential palace in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, and called for the improvement of the situation of women workers.

In Sri Lanka, women worried about the economic crisis took out a rally.
