Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani appointed Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani as Prime Minister.
Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani submitted his resignation to the Emir of Qatar on Tuesday.
Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim also issued the decree of the new cabinet of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed.
Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad will also perform the duties of Foreign Minister.
Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Attiyah will be the Deputy Prime Minister as well as the Minister for Defense Affairs.
The Emir of Qatar has appointed Central Bank Governor Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani as the chairman of Qatar Investment Authority.
New Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman:
Sheikh Mohammed has been Qatar’s Foreign Minister since January 2016, and was also elected Deputy Prime Minister in November 2017.
He also chaired the Qatar Investment Authority in 2018, was the Chairman of the Sheikh Mohammed Qatar Fund for Development in 2014 and a member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.
He started his career in 2003 as an economic researcher at the Supreme Council for Home Affairs.
Later, from 2005 to 2009, he was the director of economic affairs at the council.
In 2009, Sheikh Mohammed was appointed Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Support Project, as well as the Director of Public and Private Sectors Partnership at the Ministry of Commerce.
In 2010, he served as the secretary of the personal representative of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
In the same year, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Mining Company.
In 2013, Sheikh Mohammed was appointed Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Partnership Affairs.
