On March 16, the Sindh High Court issued a restraining order on the by-election in 9 constituencies till March 25.
After Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Balochistan, PTI also got relief from Sindh High Court. Prohibition has been issued on by-elections in 9 constituencies of Karachi till March 25.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard the petitions against the acceptance of the resignations of 9 members of the National Assembly of PTI and to stop the by-elections.
PTI’s lawyer stated that injunctions have been received from Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad and Balochistan on similar applications.
The court issued an injunction till March 25, stopping the implementation of the notification of the by-elections held on March 16 in 9 constituencies.
The petition was filed on behalf of 9 members of National Assembly of Tehreek-e-Insaf.
After the hearing, PTI Sindh president and former federal minister Ali Zaidi said that he resigned on April 11. On January 17, the resignations of the Speaker were accepted. The Speaker accepted the resignations prior to his swearing-in. When it was the opposition leader’s turn, he resigned. The party resigned to put pressure on the government.
Ali Zaidi said that other High Courts including Lahore, Islamabad gave orders. Now the Sindh High Court has also issued a restraining order.
He said that decisions of the country are not based on ego. Ego decision makers are sinking the country. Those who used to be called agents of Ra are now walking around with their hands around their necks. We were not in alliance with MQN in elections. He joined the government after the election. We have not closed anyone’s cases.
He further said that there are going to be a century of cases against Imran Khan.
