WhatsApp has agreed to comply with EU laws.
According to the European Commission, WhatsApp agreed to make the changes more transparent in the privacy policy update.
The European consumer body BEUC and the European Network for Consumer Authorities warned WhatsApp last year that it had not clearly communicated its changes to users.
WhatsApp has now agreed to explain its changes to EU users in clear terms.
WhatsApp will inform users how the agreement they accept to use the app may affect their rights.
The messaging app has also agreed to give users a clear option to accept or reject changes.
The company confirms that users’ personal information is not shared with other Meta companies, including Facebook, or any other company for advertising purposes.
Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said that users have the right to understand the contract they have entered into and what the consequences may be so that they can decide whether or not to use the platform.
