Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan challenged the PEMRA ban in the Lahore High Court.
PEMRA has been made a party in PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s request.
The petition stated that PEMRA exceeded its powers and issued the ban order, PEMRA’s orders were unconstitutional and violative of Article 19.
In the petition filed by Imran Khan, it was said that PEMRA issued the order in violation of PEMRA Ordinance 2002, banning PEMRA is also a violation of fundamental rights.
In the petition, it was requested that the Lahore High Court order to declare the orders related to the ban of PEMRA null and void.
It should be noted that yesterday the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned Imran Khan’s speeches, statements, broadcasts and telecasts.
While issuing the notification of the ban imposed by PEMRA regarding Imran Khan, it was said that TV channels cannot broadcast Imran Khan’s live, recorded statements and speeches.
