Karachi: Legendary actor of radio, theatre, film and TV Mohammad Qavi Khan has passed away in Canada. His age was 80 years.

Mohammad Qavi Khan started singing on radio at an early age and showed his acting skills in theatre, TV, film. However, the drama serial ‘Andhira Ajala’ aired on PTV Lahore gave him extraordinary fame in which he played the role of a police inspector.

Qavi Khan had been ill for a long time and was staying in Canada for treatment when he died. Mohammadi Qavi Khan was born in Peshawar in November 1942 and was associated with Radio Pakistan from an early age where he mastered the sound of voice. After that he started working in theater as well as acting on Pakistan Television and soon became one of the leading actors.

Viewers still remember his unusual role in the crime and law drama series ‘Andhira Ajala’ in which he played the role of an inspector. In this drama serial, Jameel Fakhri and Irfan Khost also played the eternal role, after which he got four moons for the police drama serial. It was written by Younis Javed and directed by Rashid Dar. However, the black and white drama ‘Lakhon Mein Tin’ on PTV was also his first drama which aired in 1966.

Muhammad Qavi Khan also had a timeless role ‘Mirzaghalib’ which was also a masterpiece drama of his early career. However, he continues to perform on private T-channels with Angan, Chupke Chupke, Tamizuddin Ki Badtameez Family, Short Film Tharki, Nano Mein and Ezzat Ki Roti being among his major works. In 1980, Muhammad Qavi Khan was awarded the Hasan-e-Persahiya Medal, while he has also won many Nigar awards.
