Karachi: The contest between the PPP and the Jamaat-e-Islami for the mayor of Karachi became interesting, after the notification of the Election Commission, the seats of both the parties became equal.
Elections were held on 235 out of 246 seats in Karachi, out of which the Election Commission issued notification of the success of candidates on 215 municipal seats. Election Commission did not release the results of 20 seats of Karachi due to various reasons.
PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami have won 84 and 84 seats respectively in KMC City Council while PTI has 40 seats.
Muslim League-N 5, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam one seat while an independent candidate won. Thus, the total seats of PPP and its allies will be 91.
The Election Commission has issued a notification on the seats of the Union Committees of Hyderabad, according to which the mayor of the PPP will come to Hyderabad for the first time.
PPP became the largest party in Hyderabad with 92 seats. There are 160 seats in Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in which PTI won 39 seats.
According to the Election Commission, Tehreek-e-Labaik won two seats while independent candidates won 13 seats
PPP won on 37 seats of District Council Thatta and independent candidate won on three seats, while candidate of other parties could not win on any seat.
PPP candidates won on all 9 seats of Municipal Committee Thatta. PPP candidates won 7 seats of Mukli town committee, 8 seats of Gharo town committee and 3 seats of Sakro town committee.
