10 years imprisonment for human rights Nobel laureate

A court in Belarus has sentenced Nobel Prize-winning human rights activist Alice Bialitsky to 10 years in prison, the convict says, saying he was convicted for political reasons.

Foreign news agencies Al Jazeera report He has been convicted on charges of tax evasion and financing protests.

In this regard, the exiled Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana said that Alice Bialitsky and other activists convicted in the same case have been unjustly punished and this decision is appalling.

“We must do everything we can to fight this shameful injustice and free them,” he said on Twitter. Belarus’ state news agency Belta confirmed the sentence to Alice Bialitsky.

Prosecutors had asked the court to sentence Alice Bialitsky to 12 years, but Alice Bialitsky had denied all charges against her.
