Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has banned taking pictures of worshipers in mosques and broadcasting them on any platform.
Abdullah Al-Anzi, spokesman for the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Saudi Arabia, said in a statement that the purpose of preventing the taking of pictures of worshipers in mosques and publishing them on communication sites is to protect Islam and protect pulpits from exploitation.
He said that the decision to ban pictures was not taken due to distrust of any imam or preacher, but as a precautionary measure to prevent any serious mistake from happening. Whatever is broadcast on websites cannot be intercepted.
