Ukraine sentenced a Russian pilot for bombing in the northeastern city of Kharkiv.
A Ukrainian court has sentenced a Russian pilot to 12 years in prison for war crimes for dropping eight two-and-a-half-ton bombs around a television tower in Kharkiv last year, prosecutors said, according to international media reports.
The pilot was shot down by Ukrainian anti-aircraft guns and captured by the Ukrainian National Guard. Several captured Russian soldiers have already been sentenced to long prison terms for war crimes.
The latest sentence comes as officials, including Zelenskiy, gather in Lviv later Friday for an international conference to discuss war crimes investigations and Ukraine’s desire for an international tribunal.
