The President has given approval to hold the Punjab Assembly elections on April 30

Islamabad: President of the State Dr. Arif Alvi has given approval to hold general elections of Punjab Assembly on April 30.

The President announced the date after considering the dates suggested by the Election Commission. According to the proposal of the Election Commission, the President has approved Sunday as the polling day.

The Election Commission had sent a letter to the President in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision, in which the dates for holding the elections in the Punjab province were suggested from April 30 to May 7, 2023.

The Election Commission has also received a response letter from the President of the State, the Election Commission has started working on the election schedule after the announcement of the polling day.

The election schedule of the Election Commission will cover 54 days and the election schedule for the Punjab Assembly elections will be released soon.

Earlier, an important consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sulander Sultan Raja in which members of the Commission and Secretary Election Commission participated.

According to the Election Commission, the President is ready to perform constitutional and legal duties after selecting the date.

Apart from this, the Election Commission has also sent a letter to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stating that in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision, the Election Commission is awaiting your reply.
